CURTAIN RAISER
Written and Directed by Na Hong-jin, this is a sci-fi monster film made on an epic scale! The screenplay is set around a village community which is under the attack of a mysterious creature! The Chief of the local Police and his deputy have to shoulder the responsibility of defending and saving the local people from the clutches of the creature. Action, drama, humour, moments of thrills and chills – all blended in the right proportions in the narration.
SYNOPSIS
The story is set in a small town called Hope Harbour. It is surrounded by barbed wires, fences and land mines and yet the town’s enemy does not come from across the border, it comes from the sky. The town is hit by an extraterrestrial invasion and as the local police chief, Bum-Seok (Hwang Jung-Min) tries to make sense of it all, the town is shattered into pieces by the minute and so are its people! With bloodshed and mayhem everywhere, Bum-Seok and his team Sung-Ki(Zo In-Sung) and Sung-Ae (Hoyeon) give it their all to fight the monsters!
The film doesn’t reveal why the Aliens want to invade the Earth and the climax hints at a possible sequel!
Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander and Taylor Russell appear as the Aliens.
