“நான் ஏற்று நடித்த கதாபாத்திரங்களிலேயே தவசிமுத்து மிகவும் சவாலானது”…‘என்ன விலை’ படம் குறித்து நடிகர் கருணாஸ்!
தமிழ் திரையுலகில் 25 ஆண்டுகளை வெற்றிகரமாக நிறைவு செய்துள்ள நடிகர் கருணாஸ், தொடர்ந்து பல்வேறு கதைக்களங்களிலும், வித்தியாசமான கதாபாத்திரங்களிலும் நடித்து வருகிறார். பல்வேறு மறக்க முடியாத கதாபாத்திரங்கள் மூலம் தனக்கென தனியிடத்தைப் பிடித்துள்ள அவர், தற்போது தேசிய விருது பெற்ற திரைப்பட இயக்குநர் சஜீவ் பழூரின் எழுத்து மற்றும் இயக்கத்தில் உருவாகியுள்ள ‘என்ன விலை’ திரைப்படத்தில் சவால் நிறைந்த, உணர்வுப்பூர்வமான கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்துள்ளார்.
ராமேஸ்வரம் அருகே கடலில் பக்தர்கள் காணிக்கையாக வீசும் நாணயங்களை மீட்டெடுக்கும் நாணய மீட்பாளரான தவசிமுத்து கதாபாத்திரத்தில் இந்த படத்தில் கருணாஸ் நடித்துள்ளார். செப்டம்பர் 17ஆம் தேதி திரையரங்குகளில் வெளியாகவுள்ள இப்படம், வித்தியாசமான வாழ்வாதாரத்தை மையமாகக் கொண்ட கதையையும், கண்ணியத்துடனும் சுயமரியாதையுடனும் வாழ்வதற்கான போராட்டத்தையும் பற்றி பேசுகிறது.
இப்படத்தில் நடித்த அனுபவம் குறித்து நடிகர் கருணாஸ் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டுள்ளார், “தவசிமுத்து கதாபாத்திரம் என்னிடம் முற்றிலும் மாறுபட்ட அணுகுமுறையை எதிர்பார்த்தது. அவரது வாழ்க்கையும் வாழ்வாதாரமும் கடலுடன் மிகவும் நெருக்கமாகப் பின்னிப் பிணைந்திருக்கின்றன. அவர் எதிர்கொள்ளும் சூழ்நிலைகள் படிப்படியாக அவரை மிகப்பெரிய போராட்டத்திற்குள் அழைத்துச் செல்கின்றன. இந்தக் கதாபாத்திரத்தை எனக்குச் சிறப்பானதாக மாற்றியது, அவர் கடந்து செல்லும் உணர்வுப்பூர்வமான பயணம்தான். ‘என்ன விலை’ திரைப்படத்தின் கருவாக வாழ்வாதாரம், கண்ணியம், சுயமரியாதையுடன் வாழ்வதற்கான உரிமை ஆகியவற்றை பேசுகிறது. ஒரு நடிகராக இந்த உணர்வுகளை வெளிப்படுத்தும் கதாபாத்திரத்தை ஏற்று நடித்ததில் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சி”

சமூக முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்த பின்னணியில் உருவாகியுள்ள ‘என்ன விலை’, ராமேஸ்வரம் அருகே கடலில் பக்தர்கள் காணிக்கையாக செலுத்தும் நாணயங்களை மீட்டெடுத்து வாழும் ஒருவரின் கதையை மையமாகக் கொண்டது. கண்ணியத்துடனும் வாழ்வாதாரத்துக்காகவும் அவர் நடத்தும் போராட்டம், இறுதியில் ஒரு முக்கியமான சட்டப் போராட்டத்திற்கு வழிவகுக்கிறது.

“Thavasimuthu Is One of the Most Challenging Characters I Have Portrayed” – Actor Karunaas on ‘Enna Vilai’
Actor Karunaas, who has successfully completed 25 years in the Tamil film industry, continues to explore diverse characters across different genres. After establishing himself through a wide range of memorable performances, the actor now takes on a challenging and emotionally driven role in Enna Vilai, written and directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sajeev Pazhoor. Karunaas plays Thavasimuthu, a coin redeemer who retrieves coins offered by devotees into the sea near Rameswaram. With the film gearing up for its theatrical release on September 17, the actor shares his experience of being part of a story rooted in an unusual livelihood and a larger struggle for dignity and survival.
Speaking about his role in Enna Vilai, Karunaas says, “Thavasimuthu is a character that demanded a completely different approach from me. He is a man whose life and livelihood are closely connected to the sea, and the circumstances he faces gradually take him into a much larger struggle. What made the character special for me was the emotional journey he goes through. Enna Vilai deals with a very unique premise, but beneath that is a deeply human story about survival, dignity and the right to live with self-respect. I was very happy to take up a role that gave me the opportunity to explore these emotions as an actor.”
He adds, “Sajeev Pazhoor has written the story with great clarity and has brought a strong social relevance to the narrative without compromising on its emotional core. His understanding of the characters and the world they belong to made the experience very interesting for me. Working alongside Nimisha Sajayan and the rest of the cast was also a wonderful experience. I believe Enna Vilai will connect with audiences because it speaks about an ordinary man and an extraordinary situation in a very compelling manner.”
Set against a socially relevant backdrop, Enna Vilai revolves around a man who retrieves coins offered by devotees into the sea near Rameswaram, with his struggle for dignity and survival eventually leading to a significant legal battle.
